Why 10s Urban Fashion Had Been So Popular Till Now? | 10s urban fashion

One of the most popular styles of the 90s urban fashions is the baggy jeans look. Although it can be applied to all ages, it seems to be particularly suited to the younger generation. This is not surprising when you take into account the increasing prevalence of urban music and artists such as Kanye West, Jay Z, and Pharrell Williams. Urban clothing has gradually taken on a unique character, incorporating elements from street wear and performance art. It seems to be generally accepted within the music industry that an urban look is much better suited to the younger generation. However, the baggy jeans look owes its popularity primarily to its own distinctive styling.

If you look at the classic image of a blazer and skinny jeans combined with the baggy look, you can immediately see the influence. The style is certainly not exclusive to the male demographic. Although most individuals will associate baggy jeans with the Generation Y, the look can actually be used by women as well. This is down to the fact that these jeans tend to be more tapered than traditional styles.

When it comes to the key elements associated with baggy jeans, the most notable is the excess material that is added to the pockets of the outfit. In particular, baggy style bellbottoms are made from bright fabrics such as fluorescent pink and neon green. The look may appear to be randomly arranged but this is not the case. Rather, it is a clever combination of colours which make the appearance look like a set of modern bellbottoms.

The popularity of baggy jeans is also boosted by the increasing number of rap and hip hop artists who feature them in their lyrics. For example, Ice Cube has famously featured baggy jeans in songs such as Welcome to the Fifth Floor and Blur. Also, the song Purple People Being Loud is dedicated to the urban fashion. More recently, songs by the duo Pharrell Williams and Timbaland feature urbanised versions of the baggy look. The influence of hip hop and rap is undeniable and many more artists are likely to feature it in the coming years.

The baggy look is not just limited to metropolitan fashion. It is popular among rural communities, too. For example, those living in the countryside will often wear a dress shirt with a zip around the neck rather than a pair of baggy jeans. This has the added advantage of providing additional warmth but it makes for a cool looking ensemble. Similarly, biker shorts are a great choice for those who want to create an effect similar to that of baggy jeans but who prefer to wear shorts instead of jeans.

The baggy look is clearly one of the most popular styles of urban fashion at the moment. It provides an alternative to the 'boxy' style that has been dominated by denim in the past. At the same time, it provides a stylistic alternative to the more flamboyant trends that are dominating the fashion scene right now. With all these advantages, it is easy to see why baggy jeans are enjoying an unexpected surge in popularity amongst both men and women. In the coming years, we are likely to see even more of this trend taking hold across the country.
