Fashion is something that you really can't plan for, especially if it's black and 80s. No matter what you want to wear, there is always a very special reason to do so. For the 80s fashion look there were many popular items of clothing that made it onto the fashion runway, some of these included brightly coloured jumpers and jackets, tie dyed denim work wear and the iconic black tracksuit. These became iconic pieces that would be worn by everyone from school kids to movie stars and politicians.
The look of black on the fashion scene was a natural progression. It went from being an edgy style to something more mainstream and stylish. Many fashion designers started to incorporate the black look into their designs, including Jean Paul Gaultier and Sir Hardy Amies who popularised the Gothic look. However, there were still plenty of alternatives available to those looking for something a little less Gothic and certainly a lot sexier. There was still a desire to create designs that were bolder, smarter and definitely more sexy than the Gothic style.
As the decade progressed, more designs hit the scene that looked great but had something a little more edge to them. The end result was a really funky range of clothing that bordered on sexy and still contained a lot of classic elements to make a great look. By this time there were already loads of fashion houses producing modern alternatives to the old school retro styles.
One of the most popular choices was of course still the black tracksuit. As well as the great looks it had a lot of other advantages. It still looked great as a dress and with the right cut it could work as formal wear as well. So even if the look was a bit more modern, it was still very much in tune with the times and still looked great.
Black was still a very popular option for jeans too. It was just about accepted as the color that was always going to be there. A lot of menswear designers also brought out a number of pairs of black skinny jeans that had some colour thrown into them. Again they were accepted and often looked great as formal wear. There were plenty of variations on the theme too, with dark washed jeans offering an alternative that had a little bit of contrast to the darker shade of black.
The great thing about the skinny Jean is that it still looks quite good. It has a rugged feel to it and that's what men like about it. It still looks great and has a lot of wear in it. While many have moved on from the original black, there are still plenty who love the look of the original.
One of the trends that has been around for a while now is the coloured tie. That can also come in black or it can be a different colour. The thing about ties is that they need to be in a wide range of colours. It is best to stick to one basic colour and really make it pop in any environment.
The key is to remember that trend spotting is part of the game when you are looking at dressing up in the latest fashion. Of course, there are always certain trends that come and go. You should give them a chance though. The black skinny jeans for example will never go out of style. They are a great option for any guy who wants to look great in his wardrobe.
