The 1990s dress code was very strict and if you wore anything with a high neckline, you were considered to be a party animal. Today you can look sexy and stylish while still adhering to the rules of the decade.
During this time, it was more acceptable for women to have a longer neckline and have a high waist line. You also did not want the top of your head to be too high as that could show your acne scars or a lack of self-confidence. The clothing industry was not as concerned with your legs than it was your top, so the pants were always short and skimpy and there were no high-heeled shoes in the stores.
The 1990s dress code was also very conservative. Many people do not like to be told what to wear, so you would have to look smart, but still presentable at the same time. Many men wore button-up shirts with collared shirts, long skirts with long socks, skirts that went below the knees, low cut shirts with short pants and a vest. This dress code did not mean that you had to wear a skirt that is too short, as that would not look that smart.
Today you can find many different types of clothing in many different colors. There are also many different styles of jeans and the men's shirt has evolved from being normal to being more casual. You can even find short shorts that are very comfortable because the knee length skirt allows for full leg coverage.
If you are not quite ready to break the mold and wear something out of the box, then you may want to try to dress in a more conservative manner so that you will not break the dress code. For example, you could wear a skirt that goes above your ankles, or if you want to make a statement, you could wear a short mini skirt. These things are great ways to still look good, while still showing off your best features.
Even if you just want to look good for a night out, the 1990s dress code was not as strict as it once was. This is one reason why many women are choosing to look their best at the club or party. If you are a woman that wants to be noticed but is not too bold, you can find a way to look great and make a bold fashion statement.
