Uli Herzner was born in Tel Aviv and moved to the United States in the fifties. She met Richard Rubenstein, who introduced her to the world of fashion design. Rubenstein was a well known New York designer who specialized in men's suits and women's suits. Herzner soon learned that she enjoyed sewing and designing both, and together they launched their first clothing lines. Herzner began designing clothing for men, as well as women's, in the New York area. Eventually, her line proved so popular that it became her business mainstay.
This is a true story of one of the most beloved fashion designers of all time. No one can deny that Uli Herzner is a great designer. She has been creating beautiful works of art for over 49 years. But, did you know that this amazing woman even started out as a seamstress? Yes, that's right – before she ever dons designer pants, sweaters or anything else, she was sewing clothes for the rest of her life.
Well, according to her own accounts, she sewed clothes for many years, from childhood up to the year she graduated from high school. That's right – she completed a major sewing course while attending college. And, although she only had one relationship with her college professor throughout her academic career, that didn't stop her from pursuing her dreams and pursuing her dream.
Why did Uli pursue her career as a designer? It was due to the fact that nobody else in the fashion industry was doing what she wanted to do. She believed that she could do it better than any of her peers. And she was right! She worked hard, studied, took courses on her own and studied until she was proficient enough to even become a runner-up for the designer positions at Uini Aoi International. She even flew across the country to Japan to train with some of the best.
There isn't one female designer who's actually shy about sharing their career achievements and all of the amazing projects they have accomplished. They're not afraid to show the world what they've done. In fact, there's one designer who's been interviewed by CNN, and has given them very insightful and educational interviews that they didn't even have time to air on TV – because she believes that they're “too personal.”
The thing is, the world always seems to find fault with people who are running for a position. They criticize, condemn, think poorly of them – all because one of them didn't get the job done the way they thought it should be done. While it's understandable, it's totally unfair – and totally undeserved – to focus all your attention on someone like Uli Huler, who were able to accomplish the impossible, one year running, and two years designing.
