The Build-A-Fashion kit includes the following: Dress up Stool, Mini-Dresser, Shoulder Stool, White Mini-Sewing skirt, Blue Top. The instructions explain that to start the game, all you have to do is place the Dress-Up Stool on the left side of the mini-dresser, place the Shoulder Stool on the right side of the mini-dresser, and the white mini-sewing skirt on the last seat. Then, place the fabric stool on the first available seat, and the sewing machine and scissors on the following available seats. The instructions explain that once all of the items are placed, the child can take her turn and do the following: place fabric dots on the fabric stool, draw fabric lines on the fabric skirt, press buttons onto the fabric skirt, and remove accessories from the dress. The child must then return to the top of the fashion shop and sit down on the second available seat.
The Fairy Tale Wedding is another one of the games included in this Toy Shop. The set comes with fairies, a wedding cake, invitations, and thank you notes. The first part of this game involves a four-year-old girl placing wedding bells on an invitation. A fairy comes to visit the bride, who puts the bells on the invite before leaving with her groom. Then, the fairy disappears, and the bride has to find a way to get the thank you note to the guests before time runs out.
When the fairy leaves, a cake falls from the sky, which the fairy uses to make wishes for the newlyweds. When it lands on a birthday cake, it makes the birthday cake look like a magic wand. If the cake is placed in the casket, a skull appears, and when it touches a vase, a bottle opens.
The second part of the game involves a little boy who is dressed as a fairy. The fairy drops a tiara on the boy's head, which makes him fly through the air, landing on a cake. If the tiara breaks, it makes the fairy fall through the hole on the tiara. If the fairy falls through both holes and lands on the ground, a loud crash shakes the people in the party.
To keep this fun game going, have bridesmaids run in front of the cake and block the holes, or have them carry a box with a few pieces of the cake on it to the bride. When the groom sees the bride with her new husband on top of the cake, he can then pretend to crash the cake onto the floor, making everyone laugh. As the bride, have your friends run to you, carrying the boxes of cake underneath you. You can then use your newly-made wings to fly away from the room, while singing “ermie, ermie, ergie, umie.” When the groom comes out of the party, he will have to pretend to crash the cake onto the floor too, if his wings are not full of cake.
Another great idea for keeping the fun going at a wedding reception is to have an icing show. Instead of regular icing, use little cupcakes. You can fill each one with either a frosting of your choice or a special type of icing, like glaze or fondant. Then, have the bride and groom sit at a long, wooden table, facing each other. One of the guests, depending on how popular she is, will hold a piece of cake in her hands. She will be the host and the icing girl, who will serve the cupcakes to the couple as well as doing her best to make the cake look beautiful and even sprinkle it with confetti.
These fun games are not just for brides, either. For the groomsmen, you can set up a fashion contest. Have each groom do a short skit to present his outfit to the crowd. Be sure to get pictures of all of the winners so that everyone can enjoy a collection of funny outfits during the reception. For the best results, have the bride gives the groom a small prize for his first appearance in a formal fashion event. This will really add to the fun of the event!
